Swadeshi

Swadeshi began with a simple, personal feeling: no matter how far from home we travel, a piece of our culture should always be within reach — in the clothes we wear, the stories we read, and the art that fills our homes.

I started Swadeshi because I wanted my own family, and families like ours across Australia, to feel that connection every day — not just during festivals or visits back home. Whether it's a South Indian saree with generations of tradition woven into it, a book that carries the stories our grandparents told us, or a handcrafted piece of art from a village studio, these things carry identity. They help our children grow up proud of where they come from, even as they build their lives here in Australia.

This is a business, yes — but it is first and foremost a labour of love. And because it starts with love, I wanted the very first people to experience it to be the people closest to me: my family, my close friends, and the wider community that has supported me along the way.

What We're Building

Swadeshi (swadeshi.com.au), operated by Swadeshi Goods under Pearl Australia Solutions Pty Ltd, is an online retail platform bringing authentic Indian traditional and ethnic products to the Indian diaspora in Australia — built to be accessible and relevant to every region of India, and to every generation.

Four Product Segments

  • Apparel & Attire — ethnic and traditional wear for men, women and children, including regional specialities.
  • Books & Stories — literature, children's books and cultural titles that keep our stories alive.
  • Handcrafted Art & Decor — traditional crafts such as Kalamkari and Tanjore art, celebrating India's regional artisan traditions.
  • Home & Living — decor pieces that bring warmth and culture into everyday Australian homes.

A Phased Rollout

We're launching deliberately rather than all at once, so that every category we bring to market gets the quality and attention it deserves.

  • Phase 1 (Launch, Sep–Oct 2026): Ethnic Wear and Books & Stories.
  • Phase 2 (following launch): Handcrafted Art & Decor and Home & Living.

This phased approach lets us perfect the sourcing, quality and customer experience for wear and books first, then expand thoughtfully into crafts and decor.Â
